Clay was born and raised in Fairhope, Alabama and attended Fairhope High School where he played baseball and football. He went on to attend the University of Alabama and obtained a degree in Human Environmental Sciences, with a major in Personal Financial Planning. In 2009, he moved back to Fairhope where he married his best friend and middle-school sweetheart Courtney Casto Calhoun.
Clay began his career in 2010 with Arthur J. Gallagher and Co. (formerly Whitehaven Insurance Group) where he worked as a personal and commercial lines agent. He is the current President for the Alabama Gulf Coast Assoc. of Independent Insurance Agents (AGCAIIA) and current Vice President and active member of the Weeks Bay Foundation Associate Board.
In his spare time, Clay enjoys spending time with his son, John Harlan, as well as landscaping, fishing and hunting.
